So you are looking for a Siamese kitten? A child, perhaps? No one ever told the Siamese they are cats, they think they are people. And most of their owners think they are people also, in fur coats. They are Love in motion with a purr that disarms the most resolute. These creatures steal your heart and rule your home....with Love An exaggeration, you say? They are the anvil upon which hammers are broken. They relieve stress, lower blood pressure, provide comfort to the weary, and companionship to the lonely. A wise purchase indeed. Over 30 years ago my husband brought home our first Siamese cat. I did not want her. Didn't he know that Siamese cats are "mean"?. Within a week all my fears of this monster cat were dispelled and I became a solid advocate. All the research in the world will not explain a Siamese. I've bred them for 30 years and I can't explain them. Their intelligent, complex personality is beyond description. They must be experienced. And what an experience and delight they add to any home. They become another child. Siamese cats come in four colors: seals, chocolates, blues and lilacs. I breed all four colors. They are raised in a CFA Cattery of Excellence which require annual vet inspections. Kittens are cage raised in large cages with plenty of room to jump, climb and play. Hospital type ultraviolet lights help to reduce circulating airborne pathogens. "Clean" is the name of game because I am their full time custodian and a retired RN. When are the kittens ready to leave? Kittens may be picked up at 14-16 weeks of age. Shipping age is 16 weeks. They go vaccinated, wormed, with CFA registration papers, a 5 generation pedigree and a health guarantee. See my contract, also my deposit form to reserve a kitten. My kittens are not inbred or line bred. This practice tends to produce healthier kittens with stronger immune systems. It can increase longevity and decrease future vet bills. We all stare at vet bills in disbelief. Healthy kittens properly fed will help eliminate those expenses. Where are you located? We are located in Northern Wisconsin, about 4 hours north of Madison, 3 1/2 hours east of the Twin Cities, about six hours from Chicago, Illinois and about 4 hours from Duluth, Minnesota. What do I feed my new kitten? Feeding and care are important issues. We need to understand that a cat is an obligate carnivore and they require meat.....raw. The natural food for a cat is a mouse, and I never knew a cat that cooked its mice. They do not naturally eat cereal grains or cooked food, and while they think they are people they are designed by their Creator to eat differently than we do. As cat owners we need to understand this so we can meet the requirements of their bodily needs. Commercial pet food manufacturers gear their sales pitch to what appeals to the human appetite----grains, fruit, berries and veggies. No respectable cat will eat that unless starved in to it so they add a little meat and an appetite enhancer. Our indoor cats have no choice so they learn from kittenhood to eat it. Research has been able to provide us with a balanced, raw diet that keeps our cats healthy so they can live out a normal life span. All of my kittens are raised on a raw meat diet. They have sturdy, muscular bodies and glossy coats. The diet is easy to make, and much less expensive than commercial canned food, the quality of which is often questionable. There are also non-grain dry foods available now. Full instructions are given to all buyers. I recommend that all cat owners get Elizabeth Hodgkins book, "Your Cat". She is a DVM, an internist, an immunologist and an attorney. You will find it very helpful in feeding and caring for your cat. Taurine is an amino acid the feline cannot manufacture for itself. When food is heated above 120 degrees it renders the taurine unavailable to the cat. The result of this type of high carbohydrate feeding and lack of taurine results in early diabetes, kidney disease, liver disease and heart problems. We are losing our cats too young. The old adage "We are what we eat" applies to them too. Remember in the "old days" when cats were indoor/outdoor and they often lived to be 20? There wasn't much commercial cat food and they were fed table scraps and hunted. Being a natural hunter, they caught their own food. They were healthy.
